Coptic Binding Workshop March 17 & 18, 2016
Learn from skilled craftswoman Kendra Last as she takes you through the step-by-step process of binding a book. At the end of this two day workshop you will leave with the knowledge and skills needed to create beautiful hand-crafted Coptic bound books. Go home with a completed book ready to be used.
This binding dates back to the time of the Coptic Egyptians and similar bindings were found in the pyramids. This is a very versatile binding as you can use essentially anything for the covers that you can punch holes in: wood, metal, binder’s board. Coptic books are great for lots of uses because it lays totally flat when open. Great for sketch books, journals. Left handed people love these books because they aren't fighting the spine of a book while writing or drawing.
This binding is suitable for both beginning and advanced bookbinders.
